The Humane Race will be taking place at Mt. Greylock Regional High School, in Williamstown, MA.

Mt. Greylock Regional High School is located on the western side of MA Route 7—also known as Cold Spring Road— 0.8 (eight-tenths) of a mile NORTH of the intersection of MA Rt. 7 and MA Rt. 43, in Williamstown, MA. Once you pull into the parking lot, volunteers will direct you to the start of the race or you can just follow the crowds!

DETAILED DRIVING DIRECTIONS FOR THOSE COMING FROM A DISTANCE:

(NOTE: Approximate driving times are given, but will depend heavily on point of origin.)


FROM NEW YORK CITY

From the East Side:

Take FDR Drive North to Willis Avenue bridge to Major Deegan Expressway/Route 87 North, to Saw Mill River Parkway North, to Taconic Parkway North.

From the West Side:

Take the Henry Hudson North to Saw Mill River Parkway North, to Taconic Parkway North.

Once You're On the Taconic Parkway North:
Follow the Taconic approximately an hour and a half to Chatham exit, Route 295 East. Follow Route 295 East to Route 22 North. Take Route 22 North (through Lebanon, NY, jogging right at the flashing light and left at the Hess Station at the end of the New Lebanon strip) to Route 43 East (in Stephentown, NY). Route 43 will be a sharp right at a traffic light (Cumberland Farms will be on your left) approximately 5 miles outside New Lebanon.

Follow Route 43, until it intersects Route 7 at a flashing light in Williamstown. (You will see "The Store at Five Corners" diagonally across Route 7). Take a left onto Route 7 North and proceed for 0.8 (eight-tenths) of a mile. You will see the sign for "Mt. Greylock Regional School District" on your left. (See maps above.)

Driving Time from New York City is approximately 3.5 hours.


FROM NEW JERSEY AND POINTS SOUTH

1. Find your way onto Route 287 NORTH in New Jersey (or 87 North in New York and skip step 2).

2. After crossing into NY, bear left from 287 N onto 87 NORTH (The NY Thruway). (NOTE: 287 N bears right to the Tappan Zee Bridge. DO NOT GO THAT WAY!!)

3. Go approx. 56 miles to Exit 17 (I-84). After you pay the toll, bear right following sign to I-84. This puts you onto an intermediate road. Take the first on-ramp (to the right) onto 84 EAST.

4. Follow 84 East approx. 16 miles to the Taconic Parkway NORTH.

5. Take Taconic Parkway North approx. 65 miles to 295 EAST. Sign says “Last Exit Before Toll.”

6. Take Route 295 EAST for 9.3 miles to Route 22.

7. Take Route 22 NORTH for 11.7 miles to Route 43. (NOTE: About halfway along on Route 22 you’ll see a red flashing light. Route 22 goes right here, then left ˝ mile later. Take the right & left to stay on Route 22.)

8. Take Route 43 EAST for 12.7 miles to Route 7.

9. Take Route 7 NORTH and proceed for 0.8 (eight-tenths) of a mile. You will see the sign for "Mt. Greylock Regional School District" on your left. (See maps above.)


FROM BOSTON & NORTHERN MASSACHUSETTS

Take Route 2 West through Greenfield. (In Greenfield, Route 2 merges onto Interstate 91 for approximately 3 miles - watch for Route 2 West exit.) After Greenfield, Route 2 (also called the Mohawk Trail) becomes a winding, steep road at times. After passing the hairpin turn in North Adams, you will continue on Route 2 through North Adams and into Williamstown.  Continue West on Route 2 until you hit the intersection of Routes 2 and 7.  This is Field Park. 

Go around Field Park and proceed South on Route 7 for approximately 3.3 miles. You will see the sign for "Mt. Greylock Regional School District" on your right-hand side.  (See maps above.)

Note: There are very few rest area facilities on Route 2.

Driving time from Boston is approximately 3 hours.


FROM SOUTH OF BOSTON / WORCESTER / SPRINGFIELD


Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (Route 90) West, a toll road, to Exit 2 in Lee. Take a right at the bottom of the ramp towards downtown Lee (Route 20). In Lenox, this will merge with Route 7 North. Follow Route 7 North (bearing right at the Pittsfield traffic circle, then turning left at the first light) all the way to Williamstown. You will pass a flashing light at the intersection of Routes 43 and Route 7.  Continue north on Route 7 for 0.8 (eight-tenths) of a mile. You will see the sign for "Mt. Greylock Regional School District" on your left. (See maps above.)

Driving time from Boston is approximately 3 hours, approximately 2.5 hours from Worcester, approximately 1.5 hours from Springfield.
 

FROM ALBANY / SCHENECTADY / TROY / SARATOGA


There are three ways to reach Williamstown from New York's Capitol Region. You should read all three and choose one based on your point of origin. Driving time from the Albany "Capitol Region" is approximately 1 hour - 1 hour 15 minutes.

From Albany proper and points south of the Capitol Region:

Take Route 90 to Exit 8 (Route 43, sign marked "Defreestville"). Exit 8 is approximately 6.5 miles east of Route 87. Follow Route 43 East to Stephentown, NY, where it crosses Route 22. Continue straight on Route 43 until it intersects Route 7 at a flashing light in Williamstown. (You will see "The Store at Five Corners" diagonally across Route 7). Take a left onto Route 7 North and proceed for 0.8 (eight-tenths) of a mile. You will see the sign for "Mt. Greylock Regional School District" on your left. (See maps above.)

From Albany International Airport:

> Exit airport and turn right, towards NY Route 7
> If you depart from the terminal, it is 1.5 miles to the Troy-Schenectady Road (If you depart from the rental car lots, it is about 1 mile)
> Turn right on the Troy-Schenectady Road. SET YOUR ODOMETER TO ZERO AS YOU MAKE THIS RIGHT TURN.  This is both Route 7 and Route 2 at this point.  You will be taking Route 2 all the way east to Williamstown.
> Proceed through the suburbs of Schenectady.  You will come to a traffic circle at 3 miles (Latham Circle).  Proceed exactly halfway around the circle and continue on Route 2 East to Troy.
> After crossing the bridge and driving through Troy, you will climb a hill.  At the top of the hill, you will have to bear left to stay on Route 2 East.  At this point, your odometer will read approximately 8 miles.
> Stay on Route 2 into Williamstown.  At approximately 38 miles on your odometer, you will come to a "T" intersection with Mass. Route 7.
> Take a right onto Route 7 South and proceed for 1.1 miles. You will see the sign for "Mt. Greylock Regional School District" on your right. (See maps above.)

From Schenectady / Troy / Saratoga / Lake George:
Take Route 87 to the NY-Route 7 East exit. Follow NY Route 7 approximately 25 miles through Troy, to North Hoosick, NY. Turn right onto Route 22 South (Stewart's Shop on the corner as you turn). Follow Route 22 approximately 2.2 miles and turn left onto Route 346. Follow Route 346 approximately 7.2 miles through Pownal, VT. Route 346 ends in a "T" at US-Route 7 (a different Route 7 than the one you were on earlier). Take a right onto Route 7 South and follow approximately 4.2 miles to the junction of Routes 2 & 7 in Williamstown. This is Field Park. 

Go around Field Park and proceed South on Route 7 for approximately 3.3 miles. You will see the sign for "Mt. Greylock Regional School District" on your right.  (See maps above.)


FROM BENNINGTON / MANCHESTER / RUTLAND

Follow US-Route 7 South all the way to the junction of Routes 2 & 7 in Williamstown. This is Field Park. 

Go around Field Park and proceed South on Route 7 for approximately 3.3 miles. You will see the sign for "Mt. Greylock Regional School District" on your right.  (See maps above.)

Driving time from Bennington, VT is approximately 30 minutes; approximately 1 hour from Manchester, VT.


FROM NORTHERN VERMONT & SOUTHWESTERN NEW HAMPSHIRE

Take Route 91 South into Massachusetts. Take Route 2 West exit in Greenfield, MA. After Greenfield, Route 2 (also called the Mohawk Trail) becomes a winding, steep road at times. After passing the hairpin turn in North Adams, you will continue on Route 2 through North Adams and into Williamstown.  Continue West on Route 2 until you hit the intersection of Routes 2 and 7.  This is Field Park.

Driving Time from Greenfield is approximately 50 minutes.
 

FROM NEW HAVEN / HARTFORD

Take Route 91 North to the Massachusetts Turnpike (Route 90) West. Follow the Massachusetts Turnpike (Route 90) West, a toll road, to Exit 2 in Lee. Take a right at the bottom of the ramp towards downtown Lee (Route 20). In Lenox, this will merge with Route 7 North. Follow Route 7 North (bearing right at the Pittsfield traffic circle, then turning left at the first light) all the way to Williamstown. You will pass a flashing light at the intersection of Routes 43 and Route 7.  Continue north on Route 7 for 0.8 (eight-tenths) of a mile. You will see the sign for "Mt. Driving time from Hartford is approximately 2 hours 15 minutes; approximately 2 hours 45 minutes from New Haven.
