Fun & Games with Dogs

The folks at the Berkshire Humane Society have organized a couple of hilarious contests for you and your dog to enjoy. Join in with “Musical Sits”…when the music stops, if your furry friend is the last one to sit, they’re out. The last remaining dog wins! Or how about this for easy, “Fastest Biscuit Eater”. I honestly don’t know how they’ll judge this one. Have you ever met a slow biscuit eater? Fun prizes for the winners!

Strong in Spirit — A Ride Across America

David DiNicola’s “Strong in Spirit” mission started in 2007 when his dog KaDee, at age 13 1/2, walked as fast as she could in The Humane Race in her wheels.

Strong in Spirit

As David writes on the Strong in Spirit website:

“Yes “wheels”- two, to be exact! At age 13 KaDee came down with a disease that paralyzed her hind legs but it never stopped her. She boasted strong front legs from all of her hot dogging and rolling, and it caught the attention of our local newspaper at the race.

The day after the 5K, The Berkshire Eagle featured her in a picture and article titled, “Strong in Spirit”. That byline captured her intensity and never quit attitude. She amazed us not only because she accepted her wheels as if she was born with them, but also by the way in which she lived her entire life. When she died two months shy of her 16th birthday in 2009, my wife and I felt compelled to do something in her honor.”
